Meetings are usually held at 7 PM on the third Thursday of every month at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect St. in downtown Akron. Meetings usually consist of announcements, guild business discussions, and show and tell. After a short break we then feature a program led by a speaker or a guild member. The topics are often quilting-related but we also sometimes have speakers on other topics such as healthy hearts for women.
The Cascade Quilt Guild of Akron, OH was established in March of 1986 by a small group of interested quilters. Since then it has grown to over 40 members with a wide range of ages and quilting interests!
The guild also organizes “Sewcials” where we meet at a local library on a Saturday, for sewing, finishing UFO’s, working on charity/service projects and a fun time being with other quilters. We usually meet from 10 AM to about 4 PM.
We organize challenges, exchanges, mini groups, and special classes and demonstrations. We have also gone on retreats, bus trips to national shows and conventions, and shop hops; and sponsor workshops. Many of our members participate in charity projects. We try to fill the needs of our membership.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to drop by a meeting, or contact us for further information! We’d love to meet you!
