About
The Cascade Quilt Guild of Akron, OH was established in March of 1986, by a small group of interested quilters. Since then it has grown to over 60 members ranging in ages from their 20’s to their 80’s!
Meetings are usually held at 7 PM on the third Thursday of every month at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect St. in downtown Akron. Meetings usually consist of announcements, a door prize, a fat quarter lottery, and show and tell. After a short break we then feature a program led by a Speaker or a guild member. These topics are chosen by members requests.
Every other year (odd numbered years) the guild puts on a local quilt show. The 2009 show was in September at the Bath Church in Bath, Ohio. Anyone interested in entering a quilt should contact the guild for further information or see the quilt show page.
The guild also organizes “Sewcials” where we meet at a local library on a Saturday, for sewing, finishing UFO’s, working on charity/service projects and a fun time being with other quilters. We have a potluck lunch at Noon. We usually meet from 9 AM to about 3 PM.
We organize challenges, exchanges, and special classes and demonstrations. We have also gone on retreats, bus trips to national shows and conventions, shop hops and off premise classes. We try to fill the needs of our membership.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to drop by a meeting, or contact us for further information!. We’d love to meet you!
