March meeting – it’s Founder’s Day!

Don’t forget, the March meeting is March 18th, 2010 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be at our usual location, the Holy Trinity Church in downtown Akron next to the Haven of Rest.

What is Founder’s day? It is the meeting where we celebrate the foundation of the guild by choosing a guild member who has gone above and beyond in making the guild a success. This person provided motivation and inspiration to the guild as a whole – who will it be?!! Come to the meeting to find out! Cake & drinks will be served.

Also at this meeting – bring your green quilts for Saint Patrick’s day show and tell, as well as any of your Bonnie Hunter finishes. A fashion show of guild apparel sewing will top it off. Hope to see you there!

October Meeting

Don’t forget, the October meeting is coming up! The meeting will be at our usual location, the Holy Trinity Church in downtown Akron, next to the Haven of Rest on October 15th. Social time starts at 6:30 PM with the meeting officially beginning at 7. This month the Round Robins will be revealed, and be sure to bring your first & favorite quilts to share.

Registering your quilts for the show

The quilt show is almost upon us and lots of questions are roaming around about quilt registration. Here are some details:

You may register quilts up until the end of quilt drop-off. It is probably not a good idea to mail your forms this late. Just bring your forms with your quilts to drop off.
Quilt drop-off days are Saturday, September 12th and Sunday September 13th from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Bath Church, 3980 West Bath Road in Bath, Ohio. Plenty of extra forms will be available if you need them.
Bring each quilt with a label sewn on the back with a minimum of your name and the name of the quilt on it. Don’t worry, the label will be covered during judging.
Bring each quilt folded in its own pillowcase cover. Label the pillowcase with your name and the name of the quilt.
Quilts do not require a hanging sleeve. If your quilt already has one you don’t need to remove it.
You may enter up to 5 quilts.
Quilt entry fees are $5 for the first quilt and $4 for each additional quilt. Cascade guild members and show volunteers pay $3 per quilt. Make checks payable to the Cascade Quilt guild
Juvenile entries (up to age 16) are free.
Quilt pickup is after the show closes at 5 PM on Sunday, September 20th at the church. Members will take down the quilts as quickly as possible when the show closes and get them ready for return.

August Meeting reminder

This month we will be meeting at the Polka Dot Pincushion (4131 W. Streetsboro Road) at 6 PM for an Amy Butler trunk show. At 7 PM we will move to the Richfield Library (3761 S. Grant St., Richfield) for our regular meeting. This is the last meeting before the quilt show, so please try to attend!

If you haven’t paid your dues please bring it to the meeting or mail it to Becky Y.

Picnic!!!

It’s time for the annual picnic! This year the event will be held at the “The Big Cuyahoga” pavilion in Waterworks Park on July 16th at 6:oo PM. Enter the park on Monroe Falls Avenue, proceed past the pool and under the bridge. Go straight at the stop sign, and there it is! If you need help finding the park, check out mapquest.

What to bring:

A covered dish to share. Using the first letter of your last name…bring:
- A-E: appetizers
- F-O: salads
- P-Z: desserts
a beverage for yourself
2″ or 2-1/2″ strips to play a game. Now is a good time to stock up for Bonnie Hunter’s visit in August!
